Lily and Christian hosted a modern mountain wedding at Bella Vista Estate. With memories of traveling to Steamboat Springs while they were dating, a venue in the area was one of their top priorities. We were thrilled to collaborate with the couple in designing a wedding that showcased the beauty of Steamboat, while also prioritizing the comfort and enjoyment of their guests!
We reached out to Lily after the wedding to get her perspective and hear about her favorite parts. Hereās what she had to say!
How did you meet Christian?
We met in college. We were in the same dorm freshman year. I was asking around for quarters to do my laundry and a cute boy (Christian) popped up and offered me some. I don’t know if I ever got those quarters to be honest š
How did he pop the question?
We were on a ski trip to Park City for our 6-year dating anniversary. We were on our way to a nice dinner and Christian said he wanted to stop somewhere to watch the sunset. It ended up being quite the hike and I had on heels. We hiked to the top of a trail, all while passing people in hiking clothing, and he got down on one knee and proposed! After our “hike” we drove to dinner calling everyone we knew, and he surprised me with our best friends and champagne waiting at our dinner table when we arrived.
What was your wedding style?
I would say our wedding style was simple, modern, and natural.
Where did you say “yes” to the dress, and what designer did you wear?
I went to A&be in Denver, CO and wore Jenny Yoo! I did my research on designers before choosing where to go, and loved her simple, modern dresses.
Where were the bridesmaids’ dresses purchased from?
BHLDN which is the wedding shop by Anthropolgie.
When it came to planning your wedding, what was most important to you?
Of course our wedding planner was #1. We also wanted to have a venue in Steamboat, beautiful flowers, and a great photographer. Overall, we really wanted to ensure that we focused on the right things and had a fun reception for our guests to enjoy!
What made you choose our company?
Our wedding venue, Bella Vista, recommended Aspen & Ivy. Casey had worked with Bella Vista many times before. During our first call she was extremely organized and kind. We also wanted to have someone we got along with and that was able to handle our fun/sarcastic selves.
If you could provide a tip to another couple planning their wedding, what would it be?
Start your Pinterest board right away! Haha but also to really focus on a few things that are important to you. Some things may not work out or you may not have the budget for everything which is okay. In the end, guests won’t notice everything that you will, so don’t get upset by small details. If you are happy and enjoying yourself, then they will be too!
When it came to your venue selection, why did you choose to get married there?
Christian’s family had a home in Steamboat growing up so when we started dating, we would visit often in the Summer. It’s also our favorite mountain to ski! We’ve always loved the relaxed mountain vibe of Steamboat and they have a great downtown for out-of-town guests to enjoy.
Where did you order your favors, party gifts, etc. from?
Etsy & Amazon!
What was the best part of your wedding day?
The best part was the beautiful weather we had and the dancing at the reception!
